Who are we?
BiOME was established in 2015, and has grown quickly with staff at three UK locations and projects across the UK as well as in Europe and Africa. We work with a wide range of clients from small-scale developers and architects to leading consultancies and developers. We also complete survey and assessment work on a number of conservation related projects each year.
We are committed to developing our staff, and will develop your skills in all aspects of ecology and consultancy work through in-house and external training and mentoring.

Senior Ecologist
We are seeking an ecologist with at least three years professional experience to join our team in Shropshire/mid-Wales.
Location: Home based, Shropshire
Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
Completion of ecological fieldwork to inform development and conservation projects.
Preparation of baseline reports, HRA, EcIA.
Work winning.
Client management.
Report review.
Project management.
Essential Skills/Attributes
A wide ecological skill-set.
Protected species licence/s (ideally bats and/or GCN).
Knowledge and understanding of the planning system and wildlife policy/legislation (England and Wales).
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Project management and client liaison skills.
An organised approach to work, flexibility and a high level of motivation.
A BSc and / or MSc in a relevant subject.
A full driving licence and access to your own transport.
Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
Beneficial Skills/Attributes
Working knowledge of GIS.
Ornithological identification skills and reporting.
Working knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain assessment

Ornithologists (multiple positions available)
We are seeking ornithologists to join our team in Shropshire/mid-Wales and in the east of England. These are ideal opportunities to obtain consultancy experience as well as work on a variety of exciting conservation projects.
Location: Home based, Shropshire/mid-Wales
Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with other ornithology/ecology team members to help deliver surveys to a high standard. The duties of the roles will include:
Delivery of survey work (nest finding an monitoring) for conservation projects in relation to Eurasian Curlew and breeding upland passerines (Shropshire/mid-Wales positions).
Completion of ornithological survey work to inform development projects, including renewable energy projects (both pre-consent and post-construction), coastal defence schemes and smaller scale development (all positions).
Survey data analysis (including territory mapping) and baseline reporting (all positions).
Other duties may include:
Digitisation and management of datasets using GIS.
Completion of Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys/Preliminary Ecological Appraisals.
Completion of protected species surveys, including bat surveys.
Analysis of non-avian survey data.
Essential Skills/Attributes
Excellent bird identification skills.
Eagerness to learn about ornithology and wildlife legislation.
Ability to work well within a small team.
Reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to work unsociable hours and at remote site locations.
Strong communication and organisation skills.
Full UK drivers licence and access to your own transport.
Beneficial Skills/Attributes
Working knowledge of GIS.
Experience of species-specific and generic bird survey techniques.
Protected species survey licence/s.
Experience of protected species surveys.
Experience of Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys/Preliminary Ecological Appraisals.
Graduate/Associate/Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
