Welcoming Liam Curson

We welcome Liam Curson to BiOME, who joined us at the beginning of April 2026 as a Graduate Ecologist/Ornithologist.

Liam obtained a first class degree in Ecology and Conservation from the University of East Anglia (2021-24), and prior to joining BiOME worked as a freelance ornithologist, predominantly completing Breeding Bird and Vantage Point surveys. In 2017 he was Assistant Warden of Bardsey Bird Observatory, and volunteered for Long Point Bird Observatory and the James Bay Shorebird Project in Canada, monitoring and ringing migratory birds on important stopover sites. Liam has also spent two years in environmental education with the RSPB, leading school groups at a nature reserve in West Sussex.

Liam is principally a birdwatcher, but with an increasing interest in all wildlife and Pan-species listing! He also loves travelling and has spent over a year of his life in Latin America, including a month in the Bolivian jungle working on a rewilding project for orphaned Capuchin Monkeys. During his spare time Liam plays guitar and write songs, and loves wild swimming and kayaking.

A few other interesting facts about Liam…He once won a fancy dress competition dressed as a Bird-of-Paradise, was the president of UEA’s Conservation and Wildlife Society and is the ‘nature consultant’ for my housemates future novel, which will be set 8,000 years ago in Neolithic England!

Welcome to the team Liam!
